How to read an astrocartography map
There are 40 lines on the map: four for each of the 10 planets. The color is the planet, the style is the angle.
Straight vertical lines run where the planet was at the top of the sky when you were born (MC, solid) or at the bottom (IC, dashed). MC lines are about career and how people see you; IC lines are about home, family and feeling grounded.
Curved lines run where the planet was rising (AC, solid) or setting (DC, dotted). Ascendant lines affect your energy and well-being, Descendant lines your relationships and partners.
The closer a city is to a line, the stronger the line works there: within 150 km (about 90 miles) at full strength, up to 400 km noticeably, further away in the background.
What you need for an accurate chart
Your date, time and place of birth. The time matters more than it seems: the Earth turns 1° every 4 minutes, so an error in the time shifts the lines. Half an hour off moves them by hundreds of kilometers.
The exact time is usually on your birth certificate. If you don't have it, pick an approximate time of day: the map will show countries and regions rather than single cities.
Which lines are considered good
Jupiter, Venus and the Sun are the most supportive: near their lines money, relationships and confidence come easier. Saturn, Mars and Pluto tend to make life more strained — though even they have their uses: discipline, drive, deep change.
Your goal matters too: for love, Venus and the Moon on the Descendant are stronger; for a career, the Midheaven lines. That's why the atlas ranks cities for your goal.
